The three musicians wanted to help these compositions with their specifics to a new flowering on stage.

Already the first concerts confirmed the expectations of the three Saxon musicians. The press praised their performance as "delicate chamber music at the fingertips" and attested them to "having revealed themselves to be a fine-sounding trinity par excellence" as well as to "remind the audience of the legendary Trio Italiano d'Archi".

Invitations to established concert podia in Germany like the Dresden Semper Opera, the Munich Philharmonic as well as to several music festivals like the Vreden Music Festival, the Saxon-Bohemian Music Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival, and the Music Summer of the Central German Broadcasting Station followed.

Meanwhile, the repertoire includes numerous compositions written originally for violin, viola and violoncello like all the string trios by Beethoven, Mozart and Schubert.

Beyond the classical string trios, special attention is given to modern compositions by Schnittke, Françaix, R.Strauss, Dohnányi and Kodály.

Already after the first CD, containing the Trio H flat maior of Schubert and the Divertimento E flat maior of Mozart, the ensemble was higly praised by specialised press. The ensemble got the best points in all categories for the recording of the string trio of Ludwig van Beethoven by the professional journal “Klassik heute 2/2001”. The CD No 4 was recorded 2002 in cooperation with MDR-Kultur, containing works of Sibelius, Kodaly, R. Strauss, Dohnányi, Françaix and Enescu. In the Kulturjournal of the LVZ, it is said that if such musical outsiders with sense and sound culture are unearthed, like by the ensemble Dresdner Streichtrio, then excavation turns into discovery. The first reviews to this CD say that the ensemble sound offers unequalled opportunities among the ‘trio-scenery’ and it would be true enjoyment to listen to the warm tones, the vivit phrases and the – as to say – Brahms like turns ( www.klassik.com: „[…] ein Ensembleklang, der in der Trio-Landschaft wahrlich seinesgleichen suchen dürfte […] und es ist eine wahre Lust, den warmen Tönen, den lebhaften Phrasen und den - nun ja – Brahms’schen Wendungen zu lauschen.)

The CD recordings are made by the label Querstand.

When three young musicians met in 1995 for playing chamber music in addition to their engagement in leading positions at the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden (Saxon State Orchestra Dresden) and the MDR-Sinfonieorchester (Symphonic Orchestra of the Central German Broadcasting Station), respectively, the Dresden String Trio was born.

Inspired by compositions for string trio by famous composers of the 20th century like Jean Françaix, Alfred Schnittke and Ernst von Dohnányi, the challenge was to discover this type of chamber music, usually being overshadowed by string quartets.
